Until now all our wine has been sold direct, mostly to high-end restaurants, select retailers, and to private customers. The Carlton Hill Pinot Noir Estate Reserve is not made available to the trade and therefore only sold to individual private customers. As we now have a growing number of wine enthusiasts who visit us and love our wine, we are introducing our first Reserve Wine Club! The Estate Reserve sells out very quickly. 2006 CARLTON HILL ESTATE RESERVE PINOT NOIR
"Think Lauren Bacall rather than Marilyn Monroe..."
Consistent with prior vintages from our vineyard, this wine displays phenomenal balance and structure. While the tannins are more pronounced than those found in the 06 Estate, the fruit and acidity integrate the tannins to create a nearly seamless wine. The fruit flavors, while still developing, reveal more dark black raspberry and cherry than the 06 Estate and yet subtle hints of violet and rose still emerge on the palate and nose. Exotic notes of spice, oak and caramel develop on the finish. The 2006 Estate Reserve is very much in its infancy and requires longer cellaring. It was bottled on March 18th, 2008 and, as a result, the aromatics are just beginning to emerge. So, its mystery will continue to unfold.

2006 CARLTON HILL ESTATE PINOT NOIR
Certainly the most feminine wine the vineyard has produced to date, floral notes of violet and candied fruit combine with bright flavors of cranberry, and wild black raspberry. The wine has a very soft mouth feel and finishes with subtle herbal notes of wood smoke and tobacco. Consistent with prior Carlton Hill vintages, this wine is wonderfully balanced and round yet its overall structure and acidity cause the flavors to linger in the mouth well after your last sip.

2005 CARLTON
HILL PINOT

 I believe this wine, to be officially released over the Memorial Day
weekend, is a classic Pinot Noir with great structure and age
worthiness. Herbaceous, dark fruit aromatics intertwine withbright
forward flavors of ripe raspberry and black cherry. The wine has a chewy
quality as well, revealing meaty, unctuous flavors in a rather
pronounced mid palate, with spicy notes of clove and cedar wood
lingering on the finish. The additional aging in wood also gives the
wine a voluptuous mouth feel along with hints of vanilla and smoke.
While this wine is still in its infancy,

WINE ADVOCATE, NOVEMBER 2007:
“The 2005 Pinot Noir was produced from estate-grown fruit. Dark ruby-colored, it has a fragrant cedar, tobacco, and red fruit-scented bouquet. This leads to a medium-bodied Pinot with the elevated acidity and tannin of the vintage but with a broad enough band of ripe fruit to provide balance. Drink this tasty effort over the next few years while the fruit holds”. 89 Points
With this wine, there is a return to the
black fruit flavors that were prevalent in 03. Black Currant, cassis and
plum flavors combine with silky, ripe tannins to create a balanced and
voluptuous Pinot Noir. The Willakenzie soils from the vineyard contribute
further by adding the spicy notes of clove and cinnamon to the nose and
finish.

Due to the hot summer and our
young grape plants, we chose to pick on September 11th. While
early in terms of traditional harvest in Oregon, the grapes rewarded us
with a beautifully balanced wine with lush, ripe raspberry, cola and red
cherry flavors. Aged for a year in 30% new oak, only 280 cases of
the 2004 Pinot Noir were produced. I think you all will be pleased!

Carlton Hill Estate Pinot Noir

With
a year of aging, the wine has become even more elegant and balanced,
with ripe raspberry and blackberry fruit flavors and aromas of dried
black cherry and spice on the nose.
Both the tannins and acids
in this vintage are slightly more pronounced than those in 2002, causing
the 2003 vintage to be a slightly bigger wine. This combination
should also allow this wine to withstand even greater cellar time.
